Astatic’s RF Resistance Architecture Reduces Unwanted Interference From Outside RF devices
In today’s wireless world the growing popularity of digital personal communication and data devices have increased the instances of Radio Frequencies entering an audio signal path. Cell phones, two-way radios, wireless internet routers and other wireless devices are becoming more popular in places where teleconferencing, recording and sound reinforcement systems are in use. The short, intense burst of radio transmission from these digital devices can enter the sensitive electronics of an audio system causing an undesirable sound. Since the microphone tends to be the forefront of an audio system and is used in close proximity to the digital communication and data devices your first line of defense is a microphone utilizing Astatic’s RF Resistant Architecture. Astatic is giving special attention to the design of the electronics as well as the microphone’s housing to minimize the reception of unwanted RF signals. As Astatic continues to develop new products compliant to AES 48, the same consideration will be applied to future models and classified within the RF Resistant Architecture trademark.
Astatic Microphones with the RF Resistant Architecture Trademark are AES 48 compliant. As with any system, RF resistance is only as strong as it’s weakest link. Proper system grounding is crucial to preserving RF resistance throughout an audio system. A bad link in the system ground can cause RF to penetrate the sound system chain. The use of foil shielded mic cable with a drain wire is not recommended. To successfully combat RF reception over your cable runs choose a multi-conductor cable with a braided shield extending the entire length of the cable. Observe proper termination techniques to guarantee the system ground is consistent through out the system. Be sure to use only those products and accessories that confirm to the standards set by AES and the Central European Standards organization. Look for the RF Resistance Architecture logo on the Astatic Products that are designed to combat unwanted radio frequency interference.
