SONOSAX SX-R4:
NEW FIRMWARE RELEASES
Now featuring MIRRORING on CF Cardfor the SX-R4 - MINIR82
and the SX-ST / SX-VT Recorder!
WARNINGPlease read an important notice about the use of CF Card with SONOSAX Recorders

Le Mont, November 18th. 2008
IMPORTANT WARNING CONCERNING
THE USE OF CF CARDS

It concerns the SONOSAX SX-R4, the MINIR82 and the internal recorder of the SX-ST Mixer

This notice is to warn all users of SONOSAX recorders about a severe issue while recording simultaneously on the Hard Disk and some CF Cards that could lead to corruptions of audio files on both medias.
The problem is not constant and may appear randomly. It also depends on the type of CF Card being used. File corruptions have been reported with following cards:
- SANDISK Extreme III and SANDISK Extreme IV at any capacity
- TRANSCEND Cards

SANDISK Ultra II 2GB and 4 GB however seems to work fine as no problem have been reported.
SONOSAX engineers are currently working to solve this issue within the shortest possible terms.

In the mean time, we strongly recommend you not to record simultaneously on the HD and on the CF Card, or at least to fully test and try your CF Card before any important recording session.

SONOSAX will post a notice as soon as this issue is fixed.

HDR2 Digital Recorder is HERE!!!!

This unit has the features to perform in a wide variety of recording situations. The HDR2 is small enough to fit in a pocket, briefcase, gig bag, backpack, or to just carry around in your hand.
The HDR2 features both a built in 128MB flash memory and an SD card port (supports up to 4GB SDHC cards.) The HDR2 will record in either WAV or MP3 formats. The WAV format offers your choice of six different sample rates. The mini USB 2.0 jack makes transferring data to or from a computer (either flash memory or SD) as simple as drag and drop. There are two internal microphones which may be used alone or in conjunction with the two ¼” inputs. These inputs include a switch to choose MIC, GUITAR, or LINE levels as well as rotary level knobs for fine-tuning. A three position switch (HIGH, LOW, or OFF) sets the internal mic level and allows a recording mix to be created between them and the ¼” inputs. The HDR2 features a stereo line output, stereo headphone output, and an internal speaker for playback.
The HDR2 is simple to use. Simply turn the unit on, select flash memory or SD card to record to, push record, and you're recording. Rainman

The RAINMAN is made of a soft, lightweight batting that does not absorb water or matt up when wet. Instead, the rain drops simply slow down as they flow through and are channeled out the front. The exterior is net material with sturdy stitching and a Velcro closure. The RAINMAN easily slides onto most windscreens, and is secured with Velcro.
The RAINMAN goes on and off quickly and easily. To install the Rain Man, simply slide it on with the open end at the front of the microphone then close the Velcro slot.
In heavier rain, the RAINMAN may eventually take on water faster than it can channel it through. In this case, it may be a good idea to occasionally remove the RAINMAN and shake or wring the water out. With a little experience you will get a feel for when and how often this should be done. The RAINMAN effectiveness has been proven in actual production environments.
It is recommended that the RAINMAN be used without a furry wind cover. However, for added protection, a stretchy “sock” type cover may be used under the RAINMAN.

Current size fits:Rycote Windshield Kit 4 ( MKH416, MKH 60, CMIT 5U, KMR 81, CS-3e)The RAINMAN Will fit other Popular brands of similar sizing.

New Range of Microphones from Heil Sound

Now Available in Singapore!!

PR-35
General Specifications
The PR 35 has been designed for commercial broadcast, recording and live sound reinforcement applications which require a smooth flat response over a wide frequency range. The PR 35 was designed around the acclaimed PR 30 element and incorporates a sorbothane shock mount to give the best possible results.
The PR 35 achieves its exceptional performance by using a special magnet structure and a large aluminum 1 1/2" low mass voice coil assembly. A carefully wound and placed hum bucking coil allows the PR 35 to be used close to video monitors without unwanted hum or buzz. Special attention has been paid to the phasing plug assembly with equally placed ports that sense audio from behind the source. It then enters them out of phase thus producing a very linear cardioid pattern. This reduces the proximity effect while achieving the extreme articulation across its smooth 40 Hz- 18 kHz frequency response. The new Heil element can be used in extreme high sound pressure levels and is immune to overload conditions. It produces a beautifully smooth audio response without the inconvenience of phantom or outside d.c. powering.
The PR 35 is equipped with a three position roll off switch. The first position is flat, the second position rolls off at approximately -3 dB and the last position rolls off at approximately -6 dB.
The cardioid pattern offers the greatest rejection of unwanted audio at 180 degrees off axis, which is directly behind the microphone; there is virtually no off-axis coloration.
Supplied with a microphone clip that mounts to any 5/8"- 27 mic thread. It also comes with an aluminum carrying case.
For amateur radio a CC-1 XLR cable is required to interface with a transceiver.
Largest dynamic element in a hand held microphone
Wide frequency response
Articulate natural mid range
Best vocal microphone
Most versatile microphone
3 position roll off switch
Rubberized coating

The Fin
General Specifications
Heil Sound is pleased to introduce The Fin, exhibiting a remarkable, natural, clear sound and designed especially for live sound, recording and broadcast applications. The exceptional performance is achieved by the use of a special magnet structure with a large 1 1/18" aluminum low mass voice coil assembly similar to the Heil PR 20. The frequency response is 60 Hz - 18kHz with that traditional Heil Sound mid range 'bouquet' at 4kHz, which presents incredible brilliance and presence. The Fin exhibits a tight linear cardioid pattern. The chrome finish is a special 'showchrome' where the steel body is copper plated and then double chrome plated producing a deep chrome finish. A blue molded internal foam windscreen inside the grill covers the large diameter Heil dynamic microphone element mounted in a specially tooled Sorbothane © shock mount.
The fun part of The Fin is the four blue L.E.D. lamps mounted inside. These can only be illuminated when using The Fin into one of the 3 pin balanced XLR inputs of a professional mixing console that supplies a + 48 volt d.c. phantom voltage down the balanced mic line. A small slide switch on the bottom of The Fin must be switched to 'ON'.
Standard 5/8" – 27 microphone stand threads allow The Fin to be mounted on booms or floor stands.
The Fin is terrific for vocals, instrument amplifiers, harmonica, and speech, and puts the fun back into the dynamic microphone.

Heil PR-781
From the amateur radio division of Heil Sound, Ltd., we present the PR 781, a professional quality dynamic cardioid microphone for amateur radio that is specifically designed for use with most makes of Elite tranceivers of Kenwood, Yaesu, Ten Tec and iCOM. This is a truly remarkable dynamic microphone. Heil engineers were requested by ICOM to develop a very special microphone package for their new iC 7800 radio. They didn't want just a microphone; they wanted a SUPER microphone for a super radio. The Heil PR 780 was born. The PR 781 is an improvement on the popular PR 780. The PR 781 is a beautiful performer into just about any microphone input, such as TS 870, 950, Pro 1, 2, 3, Yaesu Mv 5, MP, 2000 and 9000.
Using one of the dynamic elements from the Heil broadcast division, the PR 781 offers beautiful wide frequency response while keeping that traditional Heil Sound articulation of the speech pattern something ALL microphones seem to lack and that has been the mainstay of the Heil Sound line up.
The PR 781 comes with the SM 3 mount.

Handi Mic Pro Plus

( Oh Try out this Tiny mic. It sounds Great!)
The Heil Handi Mic Pro Plus represents completely new dynamic microphone technology designed for a wide range of professional applications such as live sound, commercial broadcast, and sophisticated recording. Its wide frequency range outperforms the tired, 30+ year old industry technology and can withstand huge amounts of SPL. The end result is a microphone that can answer the call to any application. The Handi Mic Pro Plus is ideal for use with tom drums where smaller microphones are needed, as well as inside Leslie speakers. The Handi Mic is perfect for an interview microphone where its small size makes it a very low profile microphone with great sound.
Since 1982, Heil Sound has been the leading manufacturer of communications microphones and has a paramount understanding of phasing. When properly applied, this knowledge creates outstanding cardioid patterns with unbelievable rear rejection that removes unwanted sounds that try to enter from the off axis rear. The pattern control of the Heil Handi Mic Pro Plus is outstanding. This exceptional performance is achieved by using the ideal combination of materials for the large low mass diaphragm and a special mixture of neodymium, iron, and boron that gives the Handi Mic Pro Plus the strongest magnet structure available.
Special attention has been paid to the phasing plug assembly with equally placed ports that sense audio from behind, entering them out of phase. Thus, the Handi Mic Pro Plus produces a very linear cardioid pattern and reduces the proximity effect while achieving perfect articulation. This new Heil element is usable in extreme high sound pressure levels and is immune to overload conditions making it perfect for vocal and live sound applications.
The Handi Mic Pro Plus is supplied with a standard 5/8" -27 mic clip and a foam windscreen.
